A 67 party is easy because the theme is a number and two colours. Here is the whole plan.
Colours and decorations
Lime and black, with white for the crowns. Balloons in lime and black. A paper crown for every guest, slightly crooked. Number balloons in 6 and 7 are sold for sixty-seventh birthdays, which means you can buy them anywhere and confuse the shop assistant.
The cake
Black icing, a lime 67 on top, a paper crown stuck in. Or two cakes, a 6 and a 7, placed with a small gap between them. The gap is important. Candles: six and seven, or just 6 and 7 numeral candles. When you bring it out, nobody sings. Everybody does the hands.
Games
- 67 Rush tournament. Phones out, three runs each, highest score wins a crown. Or plug a laptop into the TV and take turns with the keyboard.
- The 67 sprint. 67 Tap, 67 seconds each. Best sprint gets the last slice.
- Six seven freeze. Music plays, everyone dances; when the music stops, everyone must be mid-gesture. Wrong timing, you are out.
- The clock game. At 6:07 pm, whoever notices first and shouts wins. Works for 7:06 too.
Food
Anything, but the numbers help: 6 of one thing, 7 of another. Pizza cut into 13 slices is a fun argument.
The moment
Every 67 party needs one: the whole room, hands up, in unison, on a signal. Do it when the cake comes out, or at 6:07. Film it in landscape.
If the birthday person is actually 67
Congratulations, you have accidentally become the most relevant age on the internet. The grandchildren will explain nothing and do the hands at you all day. Do the hands back, badly. It is your party and it will destroy them.
