Six seven!

What is 67?

67 (said "six seven") is a viral catchphrase and hand gesture. It has no fixed meaning: you shout it, you do the hands, everyone laughs. It started with a song, exploded on TikTok through basketball edits, and became the most-said number of 2025.

How to do the 67 gesture

  1. Hold both hands out in front of you, palms up.
  2. Move them up and down alternately, like you are weighing two things.
  3. Say "six... seven..." with a slightly confused look. That is it. That is the whole thing.

67 Tap: In 67 Tap the hands on screen do the gesture every time you tap.

Where 67 comes from

  1. Dec 2024

    The song

Philadelphia rapper Skrilla releases "Doot Doot (6 7)". The hook repeats "6-7", a nod to 67th Street in his neighbourhood.

  2. Feb 2025

    LaMelo Ball edits

TikTok edits pair the song with NBA guard LaMelo Ball, who is listed at 6 ft 7 in. The "6-7" line lands exactly on his height, and the sound takes off.

  3. Spring 2025

    The hand gesture

Palms up, moving up and down like a scale: "six... seven...". It became the way to say 67 without saying it, in classrooms, gyms and hallways.

  4. Summer 2025

    The 67 kid

A clip of a young fan yelling "six seven!" at a youth basketball game goes viral and gives the meme a face. Teachers start banning the number.

  5. Sep 2025

    6-7 weekend

Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 September become "67 weekend". Sports crowds erupt whenever a score hits 67.

  6. Late 2025

    Word of the year

Dictionary.com picks 67 as its Word of the Year: a word that means nothing and everything at the same time.

  7. 2026

    Still everywhere

South Park, halftime shows, jersey numbers, and now a game. Searching 67 on Google even makes the page shake.

What does 67 mean?

Nothing specific, and that is the point. Depending on the moment it can mean "so-so", "kind of", "I don't know", or simply "I am part of this". Linguists call it a phatic expression: a sound whose job is to connect people, not to carry information. Like "yo" or "lol", but with a number.

Frequently asked

Is it 67, 6-7 or six seven?
All three. Written it is usually 67 or 6-7. Spoken it is always "six seven", never "sixty-seven".
Why is it banned in schools?
Because a class of twelve-year-olds shouting it every time a page number, a date or a score contains 6 or 7 is hard to teach through.
Why does Google shake when I search 67?
It is an Easter egg Google added in 2025: the results page wobbles like the hand gesture.
Is there a 67 game?
Yes, six of them, and you are on the site: 67 Rush, 67 Tap, 6-7 Hoops, Say 67, 67 Stack and Six Seven Simon. Free, no account, in the browser or as an app.
