1. The number (five minutes)
A black hoodie. A piece of lime tape or paper shaped into 67 on the chest. That is it. Do the hands when anyone asks what you are. If they get it, they get it.
2. The mascot (an afternoon)
Black hoodie, black trousers, white gloves, and the head: a black balloon or paper lantern with a lime 67 on the front and a paper crown on top. Add headphones. Do not speak all night. This is the most recognisable version and the hardest to see out of.
3. The 67 kid (zero budget)
A basketball jersey, a foam finger, and the willingness to scream "six seven" at full volume at least once an hour. The costume is the performance.
4. The teacher (for adults)
A cardigan, a lanyard, a stack of papers, and a sign that reads "page 67". Look exhausted. Every kid at the party will do the hands at you, which is the point.
5. The scoreboard (group costume)
Two people wear a 6 and a 7. A third person wears "HOME". Walk around together and stop wherever there is a crowd. Wait. Someone will erupt.
6. The dictionary (for the committed)
A big book costume with "WORD OF THE YEAR" on the spine and a single page inside that says "67: a vibe". The joke is the definition. Bring a magnifying glass.
Accessories that work for any version
- Lime anything. The colour reads as 67 now.
- A crown: paper, foil, or a fast-food one. Slightly crooked.
- White gloves. Cheap, and they make the gesture visible from across a room.
Spirit week rules
Check with the school first. Some have banned the number, which makes a 67 costume either the best idea of the week or a trip to the office. We recommend the mascot: technically it is a black hoodie with a balloon, and nobody can prove a balloon said anything.
