The global counter is a single number. The leaderboard is that number split by country, and it is where the real competition lives.
How your country is decided
When your taps reach our server they pass through Cloudflare, which attaches a two-letter country code based on your network. We use that code and nothing else: no location permission, no GPS, no account. If you are on a VPN, you are wherever the VPN is. That is the one loophole and we are fine with it, because it works both ways.
How taps are counted
Your browser collects your taps and sends them once per second in a small batch. The server adds the batch to your country's total and to the global total. Rankings are recalculated every couple of seconds. There is no rounding and no weighting: a tap in Manila and a tap in Milan are worth the same.
What the panel shows
In 67 Tap, the panel on the right shows your country's flag, its total, its rank and the total of the country just above it. When the gap is small, that number becomes the most motivating thing on the screen.
Why some countries dominate
Population helps, but the leaderboard follows meme culture more than headcount. The Philippines, Brazil and the United States were the loudest 67 countries on TikTok, and they tap accordingly. Italy punches above its weight because the phrase works perfectly in Italian. Smaller countries with organised communities (a school, a Discord server) can jump twenty places in an afternoon.
Fair play
- Taps beyond a human rate are dropped.
- Suspicious bursts are reviewed and removed, and country totals are corrected.
- Coordinated tapping is not cheating. It is the point.
Recent taps
The feed on the right of the game shows the last few names and flags to tap. It refreshes every few seconds. If you see your own name there, the whole system just worked end to end.
