Someone texted you "67" and nothing else. Here is your decoder.
What "67" means in a message
Depends on what came before it:
- After a question: "how was it?" → "67" means so-so, fine, meh. The shrug, in digits.
- After a number: you wrote "meet at 6:07" or "it's $67" and got "67" back. That is the reflex. They are doing the hands at their phone.
- On its own, out of nowhere: a greeting. Reply "67". You are now friends.
- As a reaction to bad news: it means "that's rough, I don't know what to say, but I'm here". Weirdly tender.
The emoji
There is no 67 emoji, so people build it:
- 🤷 is the closest single one: the shrug.
- 🫴🫴 or 🤲 for the hands. Two of them, alternating, is the full gesture.
- 6️⃣7️⃣ the keycaps, for the literal-minded.
- 👑 the crown, if you are on this site's side of the internet.
- 🔥 after a 67 means "that was a good 67". Yes, there are good and bad ones.
Spelling in texts
"67" is standard. "6 7" with a space if you are quoting the song. "six seven" spelled out if you are being dramatic. "sixseven" as one word is a username thing. Never "sixty seven".
How to reply
The only wrong reply is a question. Do not ask what it means. Options:
- "67" (mirror it)
- "🤲" (do the hands)
- "68" (a joke; means you did it wrong on purpose; risky)
- nothing (also acceptable; the 67 did not need an answer)
