For a two-digit meme, 67 has an impressive number of spellings. Here is the field guide.
67
The default. Fast to type, works in usernames, fits on a jersey. When in doubt, write 67. It is also what people search for, which is why this site is called what it is called.
6-7
The "proper" form, if a meme can have one. The hyphen tells the reader to say two separate digits instead of a number. Wikipedia files the meme under 6-7, and Skrilla's song title uses "(6 7)" with a space. Use it in writing when you want to be clear you mean the meme and not the quantity.
Six seven
The spoken form, written out. Use it in captions when you want the reader to hear it, or when the platform mangles numbers. "Six seven!" with an exclamation mark is the meme shouted; "six… seven…" with dots is the meme shrugged.
6 7
Two digits with a space. Common in comments because it is how the song title is written. Perfectly fine, slightly harder to search for.
What is always wrong
Sixty-seven. Never say it. The meme is two words with a beat between them. Saying "sixty-seven" is like pronouncing "lol" as "loll": technically possible, socially fatal.
Also wrong: 6/7 (that is a date or a fraction), VI VII (nobody has done this and nobody should), and 67th (that is a street, which is where the whole thing started, but it is not the meme).
How to say it in a sentence
- "Bro got a six seven on the quiz." (a so-so result)
- "Six seven!" (a reaction to any 6 or 7)
- "That's a six seven situation." (unclear, ambiguous, whatever)
Which one should a website use?
We use 67 in titles and URLs because it is what people type, "six seven" in speech-like text, and 6-7 when we quote the song or the encyclopedia. If that sounds inconsistent, welcome to the meme.
