A meme's timeline is usually reconstructed after the fact. Here is ours, with the caveat that internet dates are always a little soft.
2024
December 1. Skrilla releases "Doot Doot (6 7)". The hook repeats "six seven", a reference to 67th Street in Philadelphia.
2025
January. The hook circulates on TikTok as a sound, mostly in drill and basketball edits.
February. The LaMelo Ball edit: a commentator says "six-seven" (his height), the song drops, the montage begins. Millions of views in weeks, thousands of copies.
March to May. The hand gesture appears: palms up, alternating up and down. The meme detaches from the song. Schools start noticing.
June to August. The 67 kid: a young fan screams "six seven!" at a youth basketball game. The clip gives the meme a face and a scream. Summer camps report outbreaks.
September 6 and 7. The first 67 weekend. Sports crowds chant at every 67 on a scoreboard.
October. School bans make the news. Explainer articles everywhere. Parents learn the gesture, badly.
November. Dictionary.com names 67 Word of the Year. The definition admits it has no meaning.
December. South Park airs an episode about it. The meme survives, which almost never happens.
2026
January. Google adds an Easter egg: searching 67 makes the results page wobble.
Spring. College basketball crowds turn 67 into a live event. Broadcasters start dodging the number on air.
Summer. 67 becomes global: Italy, Brazil, the Philippines, Germany, India, each with its own pronunciation.
September 6 and 7. Second 67 weekend. 67ez.com launches with two games and a global counter. That is this site. Hello.
What is missing
