You know the rules. Now here is how the people at the top of the leaderboard actually play.
Read the far lane. Signs spawn at the horizon. Top players are already moving before a sign is halfway down the road. If you react when the sign is big, you are late.
The middle is home. Return to the centre lane whenever the road is clear. It halves your worst-case travel distance.
Count the pattern. The game never spawns two bad signs in the same lane right after a 67 there. If a 67 just passed in a lane, that lane is safe for one beat.
Protect the combo, not the life. A crash costs a life and the combo. A miss costs only the combo. But a run with three lives and a combo of one scores less than a run with one life and a combo of ten. Chase the chain.
Use the sound. With sound on, every collect plays a note that rises with your combo. When you hear the pitch drop, you have reset. Your ears are faster than your eyes at speed.
Do not hop. The jump looks great and does nothing. It also makes you think you did something. Keep your hands on the lanes.
Play in landscape on a phone. The road is longer, signs are visible earlier, and your thumbs cover the whole screen.
Watch the edge lights. The lime lights on the road edges move at the game's speed. When they blur, the next spawn is coming faster than you think. Simplify: go to the middle.
Play short, play often. Reaction time drops after five minutes. The leaderboard is full of people who play three runs, stop, and come back.
Know your number. A run of 67 collected 67s is the community's unofficial badge. It is about two and a half minutes of perfect play. Nobody gets it on purpose the first time.
