67 is an audio meme before it is anything else. Here are the sounds that built it, described rather than quoted, because we are not in the business of reprinting lyrics.
The original hook
Skrilla's "Doot Doot (6 7)" chorus. The sound that started everything. Used for basketball edits, height reveals and anything where a "six-seven" is spoken right before the beat drops. The classic structure: a person says the number, cut, the hook. Timing is everything: the spoken "seven" must land on the first beat.
The commentator cut
The specific clip of an NBA broadcast saying "six-seven" about LaMelo Ball, cut so the hook seems to follow naturally. Used as a template: replace the video, keep the audio. This is the edit that taught the internet the meme.
The scream
The 67 kid, four seconds of pure noise. Used as a reaction sound: something with a 6 or 7 appears, cut to the scream. Also used ironically over anything mundane, which is where it is funniest.
The teacher
Any of several clips of a teacher saying "page sixty-seven" followed by a classroom erupting. Used for school content and for "adults discovering the meme" videos.
The gesture beat
A short instrumental loop with two beats, one per hand movement. Used for silent 67 videos: no words, just the hands, often in a place where you should not be doing it (a wedding, a lecture, a queue).
How to make a 67 video that works
- Set up a real 6 or 7. A clock, a receipt, a scoreboard. The number should appear naturally, not be typed on the screen.
- Pause. Half a second of nothing. The pause is the joke.
- Then the sound. Whichever fits: the hook for hype, the scream for chaos, the gesture beat for deadpan.
- Do the hands. Even if the sound already does the work. Especially then.
- End early. The best 67 videos are under six seconds. The meme is a punchline, not a story.
What not to do
Do not explain it in the caption. Do not add text that says "67 meme". Do not use "sixty-seven" in the voiceover. Anyone who needs the caption is not the audience.
